#7: einszett 914806 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly effective!, June 16, 2011 This review is from: einszett 914806 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz (Automotive) I drive a '99 Z3 which has spent many days baking away in the LA sun. The weather seals are 12 years old now, and were starting to grey and leak when it rained. Some of the rubber had visible gaps at the joints just from aging and shrinking.

Originally, it seemed like I'd have to replace many of the seals to get back some approximation of waterproofing, but after turning up a few references to Gummi Pflege on the forums I decided to give it a shot. In short, this is a <$10 bottle of chemical magic. It took all of about 40 minutes to treat the numerous weather seals, giving each a few applications as the rubber soaked it up, and the difference is substantial. The seals are now pliable, darker and have regained much of their original size. I'd highly recommend this to anyone considering replacing their weather stripping since it's a fraction of the cost and provides much the same benefit.

As a weird off-label application, I accidentally got some on my plastic door handle, which had started to fade a little with weathering. Oddly enough, it seemed to take and the plastic now looks like new. Definitely not one of the indications, but something which may be worth noting.

This stuff really works. It will restore the look and the seal of rubber in many applications, but like many of the other reviewers, I used it on the rubber gaskets on mine and my family's vehicles. One of the more obvious and significant improvements I've noticed is that the my 98 Dodge Neon's window makes a much better seal now, and that keeps the wind noise down and also prevents any water drops from making their way down the inside of the window. It also really freshened up the look of those seals (they're not a darker black instead of a dark grey).

We've used this on almost all of our vehicles including a 98 Dodge Neon, 98 BMW Z3, 02 Accord, and a 00 Civic. A little of this product goes a very long way so I think a bottle should be sufficient for most people to last a number of applications to their car(s). I about 2/3rds of the "pflege" remaining in my bottle.

The one thing that I would warn against is that if you apply too much of this liquid and it get runny, you'll have black runny drips getting on things around it so don't get too carried away. I recommend doing multiple light coverages, and I'm willing to bet it's easier than if you're constantly wiping away a bunch of excess.

Didn't totally bring them back but definately reduced the wind noise and made them look a 100% better. Good stuff. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

24 of 24 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Leather Care Product, October 18, 2008 This review is from: Leather Cleaner Conditioner, 32 oz (Misc.) Tried this product based on earlier reviews and was not disappointed. Used on car seats and several pieces of leather furniture exposed to the sun. Apply as directed, product soaks in, buff off, and the leather appears better than new. Unlike similar products there is no oily feel and no odor -- important for indoor applications. Used approximately 16oz for 2 car seats, 1 loveseat, 2 large chairs and 2 ottomans. Highly recommended. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

17 of 17 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Stop Your Search, April 20, 2009 This review is from: Leather Cleaner Conditioner, 32 oz (Misc.) I have a very large leather sectional. Trust me this is the real deal and was in need of some type of treatment. After reading some reviews I decided to give this product a try. This brown leather sectional now looks as good as the day I purchased it. I applied it liberally with a waxing pad sponge and wipe off the residue with rags. I was concern about left over residue or smell. Nothing at all. I normally do not write reviews on prodcuts. Good or bad. But this one worked so well for me, I felt compelled to do so. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Miracle Worker!, February 10, 2009 This review is from: Leather Cleaner Conditioner, 32 oz (Misc.) Leather CPR is a fantastic product. I used it on my Ford F-350 King Ranch leather seats, these seats are raw leather (like saddle leather) without a protective coating. My seats were glazed with a chapped look to them and I thought they were ruined. I had tried several other products, boot creams, saddle soap, King Ranch Leather conditioner (specifically made for my seats), Zymol, Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner, Lexol and others.
These products worked somewhat and did a fair to poor job.
When I put Leather CPR on my seats I was completely blown away... I mean WOW, like showroom condition. I went over all my seats twice and put it on generously, the suppleness came back, the color came back, the leather smell was renewed, my seats even had that slightly slick feel but without a residue.
This is one product I'm completely amazed by, it is a miracle worker. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

18 of 20 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars A leather conditioner that truly works, September 13, 2008 The Lexol Leather conditioner contains special oils that rejuvenates and softens leather surfaces. It is easy to use and the instructions on the bottle provide the optimal application method. I have a leather wrapped steering wheel that has grown stiff due to its exposure to dry summer heat over the years. I had been using Black Magic's Leather Conditioner/Cleaner combo and some other OTC products without much success. The Lexol pH cleaner worked well to clean the leather, and the conditioner was just amazing. It turned the leather almost brand new and all of the creases were soft again. I recommend using a terry cloth or cotton cloth to apply it onto surfaces. The Lexol conditioner is an amber liquid that is only slightly more viscous than water and has a unique smell.

Pros: Very easy to use, and works as advertised. It should be the only leather conditioner you use - the over the counter stuff doesn't work.

Cons: Hard to find and expensive, but Amazon carries them at a low price.

Overall: If you own any leather accessories or cars with interior leathers, Lexol pH cleaner and Lexol conditions are must-buy items.

72 of 73 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars the best i've used, August 8, 2009 This review is from: European Leather Restorer - Leather Cleaner & Conditioner 16 oz. (Misc.) We own a large leather sofa and matching arm-chair. Over the 10 years that we've owned these, we have used several leather cleaners and conditioners with the intention of keeping our furniture for many years to come.

We chanced across this product recently and are extremely glad that we did. While we've been pleased with other products, this one easily surpasses them. Our leather now feels as soft and supple as when it was first purchased. This is the product we will continue to use moving forward.

A side note to the manufaturer: I'm not sure what the active conditioning ingredient is in your product, but you should consider selling hand-moisturizer as well... after using this to treat our furniture, my hands never felt better.

(Misc.) While I believe this product did a good job of cleaning my purse, it darkened the cognac color leather. My purse is not by any means ruined, but the results were disappointing. I've used thick leather conditioning crèmes in the past which softened the leather without discoloring it. The European Leather Restorer is a liquid, much easier to apply than the crèmes. Often a slight darkening adds richness, so I would recommend this product for pieces which would benefit by a deepened color. You cannot beat the ease of use, and it does clean and soften. Hi! I previously gave this product a negative review, but hey, I'm all for admitting when I'm wrong. ;)

Long story short: What you use to apply the stuff makes a difference. If you're looking to clean worn and cracked leather-- as I was-- you need a nonabrasive scrubbing pad, not just a terry applicator like they pair with this item in the Amazon suggestions.

I taped a little segment of my before-and-after results so you can see for yourself that it works. After I taped, I realized the manufacturer suggested putting the cleaner onto the pad and wiping down the surface first, not just dripping it directly onto the leather like I did. But it worked either way.

It's not as thick as some other leather conditioners, but that's because the thickening agents reduce the cleaning ability.

I'm very satisfied with the product and impressed by the customer service.

There may be better but I have not found it., February 20, 2009 This review is from: Lexol 1013 Leather Conditioner 33.8 oz. (1 Liter) (Misc.) I have used this and the LEXOL cleaner on several cars and trucks I have owned over the last 10 plus years and I love it. I keep my vehicles until the tires fall off and I like my seats neat. I sold a Jeep with 300,000 miles on it and uncracked leather seats because I used this every month. You may want to do what I do and order a spray bottle of each the cleaner and this conditioner and also order a large refill of the conditioner because I find I use 2-3 times as much conditioner as cleaner. The cleaner is very concentrated and liberal use of this conditioner keeps the leather from getting as dirty so get it very clean once, soak it down with this conditioner then you'll not need to use much cleaner. Follow the directions and you will be happy with this. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

(1 Liter) (Misc.) I cannot recommend Lexol highly enough. I have a SteelBuilt, all leather, overstuffed, 96" sofa that sits near a large sun drenched window. Over the years, the leather began to look very distressed, but remained soft and pliable. Lexol was recommended by a friend, who had used it both on his automobile interior and his riding saddles with great success. I decided to give it a try. It is an absolutely amazing product. I was not successful following the bottle's directions, however. The product did not penetrate the leather evenly, until I decided to apply it as though I were massaging lotion into my own skin. Then, it worked great. I poured some Lexol creme into my cupped hands and massaged it into the leather. Immediately, the sun bleaching began to disappear. I wiped off the excess and allowed the sofa to completely dry. The leather on the sofa looks as good as the day the sofa was delivered. In six months I'll reapply Lexol as a preventative to it sun bleaching/distressing again. This is a wonderful product!
